Dawn reflections….

12/30/07
Let me begin with a resounding “Thank you!” for your very generous Love Offering! I appreciate every one of you so much; I appreciate your thoughtful monetary gift; I appreciate everyone’s gifts and cards throughout the holiday season; and I really appreciate your recognizing the many contributions of Ernie and Leslie in 2007. They continue to be a treasure, both for me and for our congregation.
My prayer is that you have been blessed by our journey through Advent and Christmas as we were church together preparing for the coming of the Lord. We reached out and made a difference in the lives of 25 needy children; we heard powerful testimonies of how God is working in real lives today; we returned to the manger scene and carried out the Light of Christ during our Christmas Eve service; and we waited with great anticipation the coming of the Lord into our lives once again.
The Lord has come and we now look forward to 2008 and the ministry that God has planned for us. We will commission the 2008 leadership team during worship on Jan. 6th. I will meet with the elders and deacons for a day of spiritual retreat on Jan. 12th to prepare ourselves for the leadership that you have entrusted to us. Please be in prayer for your church, your leadership team, and about how you can contribute this year in new ways that will make a difference for God’s kingdom.
I invite you to share your ideas, gifts and time so that we can all work together to make 2008 an exciting year of ministry, all in the name of Jesus Christ. Please know that just as my home was opened to you for our Open House last Saturday, my door is always open to you should you want to visit, share an idea, offer your services, voice a concern, or need me in any way. I am here for you.
It is such a privilege and a blessing to be in partnership with you in ministry. I am excited to see what God has in store for us in 2008, so keep your eyes and ears opened to the many ways that God is working in and through us.
In prayer and gratitude for you,
Dawn

“Preach the Gospel Always (and if necessary use words)”
Rev. Dawn has offered to accompany our youth and remain through the weekend as their sponsor! Spend a weekend with Pastor Dawn and youth from all around the Bluebonnet Area; registration deadline is Jan 9th, so contact the church office today for registration forms. Cost per camper is $85. Our church pays one half of the fee. Anyone in the congregation who would like to encourage our youth to go can sponsor the other half of the fee! Please notify the church office if you are interested.
A special thank you to our Junior Deacons who are always ready and willing to serve whenever needed—especially those times when you’ve had to be signaled to serve after we’ve started singing the communion hymn. The congregation appreciates you!!
WORKDAY SUCCESS
Thank you for helping on our workday—at the church and at Alvia Lea’s home. The floor in the storage area of the church attic is great! The stain on the outside West wall of the fellowship hall is gone! The moving truck got loaded! Numerous jobs were done and a huge Thank You! is due

to those who participated. Helpers were Ron and Marilyn Petrick, Jim Nance, Jerry and Ronda Hostetter, the whole Harris family, Leslie Green, Greg Williams, Hank Holt, Ron Rosignol and Dale Ritchie.
Notes from the Board Meeting
Our Elders will meet twice a month in 2008. Their meetings will be on the second Wednesday before the regular board meeting and on the fourth Wednesday. The first of the monthly meetings will be devoted to prayer and any business of the elders; the second will be for prayer and study of Your Calling as an Elder.
Our church has received a gift of stock designated for the Scholarship Fund. The youth of our church continue to be blessed enormously by the generosity of the donor.
The board voted to use $30,000 from the general fund to pay down the principal on the building note. Other gifts have been received and the loan balance now is $168,000.
