THOU ART THE POTTER; WE ARE THE CLAY.

A Last Line from Both Perrines

At the last, let us say how much we love all of you and how often we will think of you and pray for you. The last few weeks have been difficult for all of us; we and you have said good-bye in so many ways and now we are actually going. We can hardly believe it.

Many of you have asked us so nicely if Jane and I will come back to worship here or if we will return for various functions. Although we love you all and will continue to keep in touch, it is our firm conviction that former pastors should not return to the congregations they have left with any regularity.

This does not mean that we will never see you all again—we now live in Cedar Park for Pete’s sake, a distance of 33.8 miles—of course, we are going to see you. But we will have the fun time of visiting Disciple churches in the Austin area and joining and participating in one of those congregations. Through the search committee, God will call you a pastor. Please give your new pastor (and your interim pastor) as much love and loyalty as you have given Jane and me and, if you wish us to return for any reason, request it through that pastor.

May God bless you and keep you; may God’s face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may God lift up God’s countenance upon and give you peace now and forevermore. Amen.

SPECIAL MUSIC PROGRAM

Burnet's First Christian Church will host Louisiana's well known Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission Choir on Sunday, July 1st. They will be performing special music during the morning worship service and a special program after Sunday's Fellowship Luncheon at 1:00 p.m.

This program will include spiritual songs and testimonies from the choir members who will share personal details of how this Mission has turned their lives around. The Mission has served many people such as themselves who have walked into the Mission feeling lost, broken, and addicted with no hope, who now shine in God's light and help others who were once in their place.

Mark Curtis (son of Jim and Peggy Curtis of Meadowlakes), Ken Walling, Brian Smith, Tyrone Young, and M.C. O'Neal will come to Burnet, Texas, on Sunday, July 1st to perform a special engagement especially for our congregation. Chaplain Jim Brackman will back the group up on piano and a joyous noise shall be lifted up to Heaven. We hope you will all be there to enjoy our time of fellowship.

All church members, guests, and the public are invited to attend this heart-warming presentation that will make this holiday weekend a memorable event for all ages.
There will be no charge for this performance; a love offering will be collected.

For Edie Nance Little

The shower will be Saturday, July 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Brunch food will be served and it will be held in the fellowship hall. All the women in the church are invited. The baby is a girl and Kevin and Edie will name her Maia Loise.

SEARCH COMMITTEE PROGRESS

The Search Committee has contacted the references of the ministers who were referred to us. Also, we are in the process of conducting telephone interviews with several of the candidates. As soon as we have concluded the telephone interviews, we will narrow the list and begin intensive checks with more references and arrange for a face to face meeting. We appreciate the interest expressed by church members and are eager to arrive at the point when our recommendation can be made known. Until that time, we are required to maintain confidentiality…….Stay tuned!!

BLESSED TO BITS

Blessed to Bits will meet on Wednesdays at 1:00 at the Artisan Shop on the square until further notice.

INTERIM LEADERSHIP

During the time while we are preparing to call a new pastor, Ernie Spiekermann and Leslie Green have agreed to lead the congregation with preaching and serving as worship leader. Peggy Spiekermann will continue her secretarial duties, checking mail, phone messages and bulletin preparation. Judy Ritchie will select hymns.

YOUR participation is critical during this in-between time. Please be present, doing your usual tasks and being especially supportive of those who have agreed to additional roles during this time. Call the church office or Ernie with any special pastoral needs or concerns.

PLEASE continue to pray for our church.

And a Last Line TO George and Jane……..

Your time in Burnet has been wonderful for this congregation. Words of thanks are inadequate as we think of all you have shared with us—your guidance, your leadership, your inspiration, your friendship, your compassion, and, most of all, your commitment to our Lord and to His Church.

You will remain in our hearts,

Gratefully,
                           Your Burnet Church Family
