Dawn reflections….
4/28/10
As April comes to a close, another faithful servant of God retires. Ernie has decided that it’s time to let his ministerial license expire and retire as our Associate Minister. Countless lives have been blessed by Ernie in his many, many years of serving God in and through the ministry of FCC Burnet. I can’t begin to tell you what he’s meant to me since I began my service here almost 3 years ago. I can only imagine what all he’s meant to many of you who have been a part of his ministry here these past several years. Ernie’s devotion to God, the church, and his family is an example for us all. He has also been such a supportive help to me, of which I will forever appreciate. It has been my privilege to minister alongside you with Ernie’s assistance. Please join me in thanking Ernie for all that he has done and been for us. I am grateful that he wants to continue sharing with us his servant heart. He will continue to be as involved as he can in what God is doing here at FCC Burnet.
As we move through this Eastertide season, celebrating the power of resurrection life, and move on to Pentecost (May 23rd), celebrating the gift of God’s Holy Spirit to the church, I find myself thinking about how God’s Spirit dwells with us every day, watching over us, guiding us, and empowering us to do the ministry that we share in the name of Christ. How have you experienced God’s Spirit in your life lately? In what ways do you still need to give yourself to this Advocate, this Divine Guide? In what ways do we as church still need to give ourselves to God’s Spirit? In John 14, Jesus promises that this Spirit of Truth “will teach you everything”. My prayer is that we look for God every day, that we listen to God in every thing, and that we follow God every where God wants to take us.
Grateful to be church with you,
Dawn

Mike Dunegan transferred his membership to our congregation on April 25, 2010. His address is 1204 N. Water Street, Burnet. Welcome, Mike!
Happy Retirement!
Ernest (Ernie) Spiekermann will retire as Associate Minister effective May 1, 2010! "Thank you" is not enough for Ernie's service to God, through this church and community, for his many years of commitment and dedication. Don't expect Ernie to disappear---he will still be an active presence through his bible study class, worship leadership, his home and hospital visits, and his constant support for this congregation.

A WORD FROM THE MODERATOR…
Greetings! Great things are happening here----at the Board Meeting in April it was reported that scholarships are being awarded to Zac Darling and James Johnson, that plans for our youth are continuing, and Chuck Orr and Ron Rosignol were approved as voting delegates at the Area Assembly April 30-May 1, just to name a few. Our next board meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on May 12, 2010. Please put this date on your calendar and plan to attend.
Activities continue to be planned that show God’s love for His people, this church, and our community. Consider becoming involved in these ministries, (whether it’s with your time, talent, and/or money) be it with the Friends Claiming Christ youth groups, the Community Kitchen held in Fellowship Hall on Monday evenings, Disciples Men’s Ministries, or Disciples Women’s Ministries. Not only will others be blessed, but you will be blessed also!
Please help us welcome Rev. Bobby Hawley, Vice President Christian Church Foundation, on Sunday, May 2nd. He will preach in the Worship Service and then provide a seminar following our fellowship meal. He will be sharing ways that Disciples can forever make a difference and discover the joy of serving Christ through sharing our resources.

EDUCATION REPORT
The junior high and high Sunday school classes are now combined! With the two groups together, we have seen better attendance. Youth – keep up the good work and invite your friends!

We held our third Friends Claiming Christ (FCC) gathering on Thursday, April 22. We had twelve elementary children in attendance! April 22 was Earth Day and our activities centered around God’s Creation and what we can do to take care of our surroundings. Joan Stone was our special guest speaker and involved the children with an interactive presentation on living green. The children (and adults) learned so much. Thank you, Joan!
A green meal was served – chef salad with lots of green vegetable choices, green jello, green grapes and kiwi. We even had wonderful cookies topped with green icing. Sitting down to a good meal is an important offering for this program and I appreciate all of you who contributed food items.
The children recycled water bottles into flower pots and everyone planted beans to grow at home. There was also a trash pick-up and separation of recyclable items. What a great night! I want to thank those who helped work this event – Ann Knight, Lisa Nance, Susan Clark, Chuck Orr, Ron Rosignol, Marilyn Petrick, Brenda Williams, Joan Stone and Dawn Rosignol.
Our next FCC meeting is Thursday, May 27. Please consider volunteering your time or contributing food and supplies as this adventure continues to increase in numbers. The goal of FCC is for the children to grow in their relationship with Christ as they have fun and fellowship with friends. Your prayers and support are needed and appreciated.

Six hundred and forty new churches and counting! As Disciples, we welcome and embrace with the love of Christ all who will come to the table. The Pentecost Special Offering will be received on May 16th and May 23rd. Join the efforts of New Church Ministry in Expanding the Table in the United States, Canada and right here in our region. This offering, divided evenly between our region and New Church Ministry, helps to fund recruitment, coaching and training of new church ministers. By Expanding the Table, you are reaching out to serve multitudes and to share God's message in new ways.
