Dawn reflections….
9/29/07
Well we’re in the house, I’m in the office, and things are off and running. We certainly were properly “pounded” on our first Sunday! Thank you so much for all the goodies and the warm welcome. Our dogs were even welcomed with some of their own snacks to enjoy! We received things from dirt and plants to coffee and sweets to pasta and grilling goodies. And we are so grateful to you for receiving us into your congregation so lovingly.
I have had a fruitful first week watching you be church. Not only did you welcome Ron & me into the congregation, you comforted two of our own as they grieved the loss of a loved one, another one of our own. You honored our Lord by extending such loving care to the family members who came to say goodbye.
Ernie has been so helpful in getting me acclimated to the ways of FCC Burnet. Sharing time in Bible study and lunch with his faithful group was wonderful. It was a joy to see all that the Blessed to Bits ministry does for Outreach. And eating some of Ernie’s biscuits and gravy at the CMF breakfast last Saturday was a treat. I also went to my first Burnet Bulldog football game.
In Hebrews 13:2 we find these words: “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Thank you, church for showing your hospitality to so many people in so many ways. It is a blessing to be among you.
My plans are to be in the office Mondays through Thursdays 9:00 am – 3:00 pm except for emergencies, workshops, meetings and other unforeseen happenings. Call, e-mail or come by if you have any questions or just want to share your vision for FCC Burnet and ways that you would like to share your gifts in the life of the church. Here’s how you can reach me:
e-mail address – dnrosignol@msn.com
cell phone – 214/289-3997 (I’ll be changing that to a local # soon)
home phone – 512/756-4208
I look forward to sharing in ministry with you. Have you fished for any people lately? Bring a friend to church and introduce them to FCC Burnet’s hospitality. Extending hospitality – entertaining angels – sharing Christ with the world.
Blessed to be your new Head Sheepdog,
Dawn

Welcome to our newest members, Rev. Dawn and Ron Rosignol. Dawn and Ron live at 300 Billy Joe Fox Drive in Oak Vista, Burnet. Dawn is our new pastor and Ron is an independent commercial insurance agent—semi-retired.
World Communion Sunday is observed October 7. It is a day that calls all Christians to recollect that we are in fact one in Christ. This year, in our church, we intentionally combine the World Communion observance with Reconciliation Sunday affirming our kinship with children of God beyond our denominational and geographical boundaries.

A NOTE FROM THE ARNOLD
FAMILY
Dear Family of the First Christian Church,
Thank you for your prayers, thoughtfulness, love and support throughout Duane's illness and our loss.
Special thanks to Ernie and Peggy Spiekermann for all they did and the choir for the beautiful music and all those who fed us so wonderfully.
Our loving church family means a great deal to us.
Yours in Christ,
Elnora, Mary Arnold & family
AND A NOTE FROM GEORGE
My dear friends,
As a retirement present, you gave Jane and me three evenings of jazz at the One World Theater. We have just returned from the third performance, and I wish to thank you all for three of the best evenings that I can remember. I loved the jazz and Jane stayed awake.
God bless you all,
George
BOARD MEETING NOTES
Jerry and Ronda Hostetter have agreed to serve as Chi Rho (Middle School) Youth Sponsors again this year! Thanks, you two!!

Installation service for Rev. Dawn Rosignol is set for November 11th at 3:00pm. Every person in our congregation is urged to attend. The 3:00 o’clock hour will enable other pastors of our community to attend and friends from neighboring Disciples congregations to be here, as well. The installation will be a very important celebration. Do plan to be here!
The Nominating Committee is preparing its report for board meeting of October 10. Jerry Hostetter, chairman, is being ably assisted by committee members, Lisa Nance and Bert Pope.
Thank you to Ernie Spiekermann for installing the handrail for the stairs to the storage attic. Jerry Hostetter is getting cost information for the addition of plywood flooring to make it a safer storage area.
Thanks, too, to Tom Hankey for the engraving done on the Junior Deacon plaque.
There are various things done around the church that many of us don’t notice—and those things keep our building and programs running smoothly. Here’s an official “Thanks!” to all who pick up and clean up and turn off lights, make phone calls, etc. etc.
FALL FESTIVAL
Be on the lookout for information about a Fall Festival, right here at FCC! More to come…..

The Reconciliation Ministry Offering, which will be received Oct. 7 and 14, gives Disciples a great opportunity to participate in helping their congregations and regions in the important work of racial justice and reconciliation.
